I was checking out Wired’s June Fetish column and got excited about this entry:

This price and availability matches what Geekzone reported on May 3rd. However, Skype’s website tells a different story:

Apparently, the price has gone up by $49.99 and it’ll take an extra month to get to you. Popgadget has a post about the phone with some more bad news, “the phone does not have any web-browsing capabilities, and therefore can’t be used in any WiFi hotspot requiring a web-based login.”

I think that means you won’t be able to use it at places like Starbuck’s hotspots, since they require web-based logins.

This pile of bad news has just about killed off my interest in the device. Can anyone convince me otherwise? Perhaps a picture will help. It is a pretty device.

Update: The phone can be ordered from Amazon.com for $250.00 and the ship date from Amazon will be June 30th. Perhaps the initial info about price and availability only applied to Amazon?
